One time I interviewed at a company that claimed "sustainability is our CEO's passion." As evidence, when the admin brought me water, it was in a glass, not a plastic bottle. She made a whole thing of it. (Our tap water is great here, so I was perfectly happy not to drink water packaged in plastic, trucked from somewhere else.)

Later, when I asked for a refill, the admin pointed me toward the employee kitchenette. And there was my source: a water cooler with big plastic jugs of bottled water, trucked in from elsewhere.

I decided right then not to work there.
